IFRA - What is it?

IFRA stands for the International Fragrance Association. It is a global trade association that represents the fragrance industry and works to ensure the safety and sustainability of fragrances used in consumer products. IFRA sets standards and guidelines for the safe use of fragrance ingredients in various products, including cosmetics, personal care products, and household items like candles and air fresheners.

The organization was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. IFRA's primary focus is on the safety of fragrance ingredients, as well as the environmental impact of fragrance manufacturing and use. It conducts scientific research, risk assessments, and regulatory advocacy to support the responsible use of fragrances and promote consumer safety.

Members & Guidelines

IFRA members include fragrance manufacturers, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the fragrance industry. Member companies adhere to IFRA's Code of Practice, which outlines guidelines for the safe use of fragrance ingredients based on scientific research and risk assessments.
